Sunset In Kells
If I was to think of a perfect time, it would have to be this one. I have had many great times in my life, but the evening when this photo was taken was "Perfect".
Richie took the photo. I am here with David , Ronan and Bran and the infamous "Green Tent"!
Times we had there, year after year, with family and friends , hospitality of The Bowlers. I would sit with my coffee on the ditch, watching as the lads hit the water after cornflakes in a plastic bowl. Swimming classes brought my friends and associations from the past. All and all, the weather didn't matter, though it was special when the sun shone and the high tide timed itself to coincide with the later evening and imminent Sunset.
The Lads would swim until about 9pm. We would hit the showers , which were always warm , spacious and immaculate . Mac would have the bonfire going, have my grub that I had got ready fixed to go and enough smoke to fight the Midgets, who were, apart from the Rain, our only enemy!
We were there for Rain, Wind, Lighting and Migets, We were there for Sunny mornings, Swimming Classes, The Café, Friends, Bonfires, Bar-B-Queues , Sessions, Family and Just Pure Magic.
Dive in off the pier in Kells. Surface when it is raining and you can hear the sounds from Cnoc na dTobar. You can almost touch Dingle and you feel like you can swim forever.
Get up in the morning before anyone else and you feel like life is perfect. Spend the day in Kells, round it off by The Green Tent and a Campfire and you are in a Heaven.
Richie, David , Ronan, Bran and I did just that for years. Joined by Family and Friends and of course local people who always made us feel like we belonged. Then again, I spent the first few years of my life in this magical place, so hopefully I do!
I remember music and in particular " Big Blue". Marshmallows and Turf Bonfires. The lads messing and trying to keep away from the rain-soaked sides of the tent and Bran waiting to see what we were all going to do next!

That is an amazing photograph. Would be good to print and display.
